Classic Homemade Pizza

Make the dough: Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water, let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy. Mix in flour, olive oil, and salt until combined.
Knead the dough: On a floured surface, knead for 8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1.5 hours.
Make the sauce: Sauté garlic in olive oil 30 seconds, add tomatoes and herbs, simmer 15–20 minutes until thickened.
Shape the pizza: Preheat oven to 475°F. Punch down dough and stretch into a 12–14 inch round on a floured surface.
Assemble: Transfer to baking sheet or pizza stone. Spread sauce evenly, add cheese and desired toppings.
Bake: Cook 12–15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly. Let cool briefly, slice, and serve.
